Sealing a metal can, pail or drum can be time consuming and tricky. On a five gallon pail, for instance, there are 16 lugs that need to be pushed in properly. That can take time and it is a cumbersome task.
Plus, there is potential for problems. First, an imperfect seal can allow leakage. Using the 2-lug-at-a-time tool requires the user to pay close attention to the number of lugs sealed. A little distraction and two or more lugs may not be properly pressed into place. Second, it not efficient. Spinning a filled can or maneuvering around it to close it all the way around takes extra time.
Using a manual closing tool is a two step operation. The user places a cover on the container, places the closing tool over the cover and manually squeezes the tool. Mechanical leverage presses each lug into place.
